~For our maiden voyage into the land of magic, I wanted a big splash into the magic. I timed our arrival to check into our hotel and then head to the posh Grand Floridian Resort for a Royal (character- 1900 Park Fare) dinner. I also planned for my daughter to get made over into a princess upon arrival at the Ivy Trelis Salon with an appearance by her Fairy Godmother and the presentation of a Cinderella Dress. You see, my daughter saw me make ever dress BUT Cinderella’s.
While she was sitting in the salon chair, I told her that we were going to have dinner with Cinderella and she immediately asked if she had a Cinderella dress. Her face when I told her no was pitiful. The hair dresser (who was amazing) was in on the plan and insisted that she looked beautiful in the dress she was already wearing. The outfit she arrived in had some quote about every girl deserves a Fairy God Mother and the conversation went a little like this:
Hair Dresser: Maybe you have a Fairy Godmother?
Ava: If I have a Fairy Godmother I want her to bring me a Cinderella Dress
Hair Dresser: Maybe she will if you believe hard enough.
Fast forward a few minutes to the Concierge arriving with her dress, shoes and Gus Gus and presented it to her. She was in shock. Later as she stared at the dress she asked me “Mommy, do I get to keep it?”.
The dress was beautiful. I didn’t have the skills to pull it off, so I found this dress on Amazon and it was perfect!
Her shoes and gloves turned out great too, but the biggest hit was Gus Gus.
The hairdresser did a fantastic job with her! While the salon is small and doesn’t have the same feeling as the popular Bippity Boppity Boutique the treatment was just as special and a great alternative if you are having dinner at 1900 Park Fare. I also loved that she didn’t do the same high bun that most girls get and took the time to give Ava the same ‘Cinderella’ updo as the cast members.
To see her light up and *feel* as special as Cinderella was priceless. She even posed for a photo with other guests who were taken with her in costume.
While we were waiting for our dinner reservation Ava decided she wanted to go ‘dance at the ball’ and proceeded to twirl around to the piano player there in the lobby. I won’t like. I was crying. All that magic just hours after arriving at the happiest place on earth. Disney trip made right then and there.
